Welcome to this blog post, where I dive deeper into the chakra and her connection to your body, emotions, and overall well-being. Here, you’ll find detailed information about the Anahata Chakra’s relationship with major endocrine gland, specific body parts, and her emotional influence. You’ll also discover practical steps you can take to heal and restore balance to areas where you feel hurt or blocked.
What is the Heart Chakra?
The heart chakra, or Anahata in Sanskrit, is the fourth energy center in your body’s chakra system. Located at the center of your chest, it governs love, compassion, and emotional balance while connecting directly to your thymus gland. Throughout this post, you’ll read both ‘Anahata Chakra’ and ‘Heart Chakra’—these terms mean exactly the same thing. Anahata Chakra is the Sanskrit word. Sanskrit is the ancient sacred language of India, used in spiritual texts and practices for thousands of years. Many chakra names come from Sanskrit because this energy system originated in ancient Indian spiritual traditions.

Understanding Anahata Chakra Blockages and Physical Symptoms
How Anahata Chakra Imbalances Affect the Thymus Gland
Unresolved sadness, sorrow, or grief can create imbalanced heart chakra and disrupt the flow of energy to its associated gland, the thymus. This often shows up as insomnia or difficulty sleeping.
I once met a woman who experienced hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating). When I worked on her Anahata chakra and thymus gland, her symptoms eased. I realized her excessive sweating stemmed from old, unprocessed grief. This grief initially affected her Anahata chakra and thymus gland and eventually spread to her lungs.
Maintaining balance by addressing unresolved emotions and releasing sorrow can restore harmony, bringing peace to the Anatahata chakra and improving emotional and physical well-being.

Heart Chakra Blockages: Physical Symptoms in Arms and Shoulders
Blocked heart chakra symptoms can extend to physical areas such as the shoulders, upper back, shoulder blades, arms, hands, and fingers. The arms, being extensions of the Anahata, carry its energy. The next time you hug someone, try to send energy from your heart through your arms and hands. You can do the same when shaking hands. While everyone may feel the warmth of this energy, only those sensitive to it may fully recognize its deeper connection.
Life brings many challenges that can wound the Anahata. Whether it’s losing a loved one, experiencing a breakup, hearing painful news, or facing personal setbacks, these events leave emotional imprints. When left unresolved, this pain can flow from the Anahata to the lungs and spread further through the limbs. People who smoke often carry sadness or heartbreak connected to love, although not everyone who feels sadness smokes. The way we respond to life’s challenges depends on how much we’ve learned to accept and process these experiences.
Healing Grief: A Personal Journey
I’ve always been a smoker, but after losing my sister, my smoking intensified. It wasn’t until 2012, when I noticed a whistle in my throat with every inhalation, that I questioned myself: If I love myself, why am I harming myself? This realization led me to reflect on the deeper emotions tied to my smoking habit. The smoking itself wasn’t the issue —it was a trigger, revealing unresolved grief tied to my heart and lungs. Once I identified the emotion, I could begin the journey toward healing the heart chakra.
To shoot a bullet (pain), the trigger (smoking) must be pulled. But the trigger only acts when something deeper —an unresolved emotion —is behind it. When we identify the emotion tied to a chakra and understand its root cause, we can begin to heal. Healing isn’t easy, but addressing the pain early prevents further harm and opens the path to balance.

How Do You Unblock the Heart Chakra?
Heart Chakra Affirmations
When we have trouble with the Anahata chakra, we also have trouble with seeing ourselves as the most important person. And love for ourselves is minimum to non, or lesser to someone else. But let me ask you something: How can you love another when you don’t love yourself? How can you take care of another when you don’t take care of yourself? First you must love You, before You can love anyone else.
There is no other living being on this planet as yourself that you should love more than You do You.
There is a nice exercise that you can do every day. I would say do it in the morning and in the evening before bedtime. When you feel the call to do it several times throughout the day, please do that.
Self-Love Exercise
Take a look in the mirror. Don’t be busy with how beautiful you are, or how your eyebrows are, or your hair. But have a look at your own eyes. Know that your eyes are the mirror to your soul. I always recommend to focus on the left eye as this is your feminine energy, the right is the masculine.
While looking at the eye, see the form, the white, the color, the pupil. Keep looking, you might see or feel something. Now start sending messages such as: “I love You”, “You are beautiful”, “You are strong”, “You are funny”, “You are enough”, “You are…”
Don’t say things like “I love myself”, “I am strong”, “I am, I am…” but send it in the You form. The “I am” is narcissistic.
Say all that what you would say to a family member, or friend, or someone dear when he or she would be down. How would you elevate them for them to feel better? Or what would you like to hear from that person that is dear to you to make you feel better?
Do this for a couple of days. And see how you will start opening from the heart, from within.
You’ll know your heart chakra is open when you can genuinely feel love for yourself and others flow freely.
Open Heart Chakra Symptoms
Include when you can say genuinely to yourself “I love you”, respecting yourself so others don’t cross your boundaries, when you can release grudges and forgive others, feeling grief without being consumed by it, loving yourself without losing yourself, when you can breathe deeply not only in chest (yet, also anxiety can cause chest breaths), when you can sleep without problems (sure, sometimes can happen that you cannot sleep due to other circumstances such as full moon – though I do not have those problems), strong immune system, no heaviness on your chest, attracting authentic connections, self-care happens naturally.
Anahata Chakra Healing Stones
Heart chakra healing stones are popular tools that many people find supportive in their healing journey. Stones like rose quartz and green aventurine are traditionally associated with Anahata chakra work. In my personal practice, I don’t use stones or other tools – I work purely with hands, breath, focus, visualization, eyes and heart. While stones can be beautiful reminders of your healing intention, I’ve found that the most profound transformation comes from within, through direct energy work and emotional processing.
